Important: Lake Moraine 2026-2028

The New York State Canal Corporation is rehabilitating the Madison Reservoir Dam. The lake is drawn down 10 feet through 2028 to allow construction. The lake is still a lake — kayaking, swimming, fishing, and paddleboarding all continue, and there is no construction noise at the cottage.

What this means for your stay: The shoreline directly behind the cabin is exposed mud at low water. Lake activities for our guests run from the Colgate Boathouse — a short walk down Frank Road, or a 1-minute drive if you'd rather bring your gear by car. There's a dedicated parking lot. Kayaks, paddleboards, and life vests are stored there, available self-serve. Your view from the upper porch is still the lake — just lower than usual. THE CABIN

True log construction — exposed beams, warm wood throughout. Two queen bedrooms (one with attached private bath, full bath upstairs, two half-baths downstairs). The finished basement has a daybed with twin trundle (sleeps 2 more), a bar area, and access to the bottom porch.

Upper porch wraps the cabin with lake views. Lower deck steps down to the patio fire pit. Perfect for a Colgate parent weekend, milestone birthdays, or three couples splitting a getaway.
