The New York State Canal Corporation is rehabilitating the Madison Reservoir Dam. The lake is drawn down 10 feet through 2028 to allow construction. The lake is still a lake — kayaking, swimming, fishing, and paddleboarding all continue, and there is no construction noise at the cottage.
What this means for your stay: The shoreline directly behind the cottage is exposed mud at low water. Lake activities for our guests run from the Colgate Boathouse — which is connected to the property. No need to drive or take a long walk somewhere else. Kayaks, paddleboards, and life vests are stored there, available self-serve. Your view from the deck is still the lake — just lower than usual. THE HOUSE
Two bedrooms (queens) plus a sun-room with trundle that sleeps one more. The sun-room is the secret weapon — windows on three sides, lake views, perfect for kids or for an extra retreat away from the main house.
THE LAWN
Yard set up for groups: six colorful Adirondack chairs around a fire pit, jumbo Connect 4, cornhole, electric fireplace under the deck for cool evenings. The deck wraps with views.
